Family: Son of Cheeky Cow
Sweet Chilli was born on the reserve and was named by Jason and Wikus, past employees, after their love for sweet chilli sauce. Sweet Chilli was with Cheeky Cow during the poaching incident on 10 October 2014. Following the death of Cheeky Cow, Sweet Chilli became Charlie’s protector (Cheeky’s 6-month-old female calf) until her death in August 2015.
Sweet Chilli was a very skittish rhino, but after the poaching he became more aggressive and protective of his fellow rhino. Sweet Chilli is a former member of the beloved “Naughty 6”, a herd of rhino that stayed together and acted quite cheeky. He is a very protective and patient rhino.
