Phoenix

Date of Arrival: 15th May 2015
Sex: Male
Family: Mother is Nkombi, sibling to Rocky, Winnie, Kelly, Mish, Reine, Willis, Leo, Corri and Dawson

Phoenix was the first calf born following the poaching in 2014. The name Phoenix was given to signify rising from the ashes (from our 2014 poaching incident), carrying on and creating new life.

Patrol is Phoenix’s father. Since being pushed away from his mother, Phoenix has paired up with his brother Willis. The two have been inseparable since 2019. In January 2019, Phoenix caught his ear on a thorn and tore the No. 1 notch on his left ear, so he now has a No. 10 notch and half a left ear.

Phoenix is a very cheeky, and isn’t afraid of people or cars, he often likes to investigate what cars are doing and has been known to walk towards groups both on foot and in the vehicle.
