Madolo

Date of Birth: 2nd April 2016
Sex: Male
Family: Son to Mish, grandson of Nkombi, sibling to Courtney and Sammi

Madolo was named after Dr Ian Player, a conservationist who is credited, along with Dr Toni Harthoon, for saving the Southern White Rhino from extinction in the 1960’s.

Madolo was Ian Players’ nickname and it means “fights like a wounded Buffalo”.  Madolo is a very large rhino and it is believed to be the only offspring of Magoo who was previously on the reserve, which can be seen in his large size and pushy character.
