History of Our Beloved Rhinos

We believe in a story of hope for rhinos, where conservationists and individuals can roll up their sleeves and do something positive for a species that cannot speak for themselves and cannot protect themselves from greed, corruption and abject lunacy.

History of Our Beloved Rhinos

We received our first four rhinos in 1992 and in 2020 we celebrated the birth of our 31st calf. Over the years some of the rhinos have moved to other reserves and some were swapped out to further a healthy gene pool.

Sadly, we lost five rhino in 2014 due to a poaching incident which caused huge trauma to the herd with devastating impacts on our staff. Since then we have chosen to trim the rhino’s horns and establish an Anti-Poaching Unit (APU) to make our reserve a protected safe haven. By doing this we have managed to protect the survivors.

We have also witnessed the births of several beautiful rhino, many of which remain resident on the reserve today with their own children and grandchildren.

We believe in a story of hope for rhinos, where conservationists and individuals can roll up their sleeves and do something positive for a species that cannot speak for themselves and cannot protect themselves from greed, corruption and abject lunacy.

If we counter every atrocity against nature with an equal and opposite proactive move to protect these gentle giants, we will slowly win the battle to save rhinos!
