Indy is the most energetic and enthusiastic dog you will ever meet. She arrived at Mankwe in March 2022 when she was 1½ years old. She has one of the best detection noses on her, and with her handler Tsepho by her side, she is unbeaten in meat detection. Indy has helped us to locate carcasses and identify areas where poaching incidents have occurred.
Indy never tires, and she keeps us all on our toes. The only thing she loves more than attention and fuss is her Kong, which she will do almost anything to fetch. However, she is so well behaved, she always returns the Kong ready for it to be thrown again. She has become a great companion for Hunter, who is now very protective of her… when he can catch her.
Indy has trouble with the spear grass on the reserve, so she is regularly washed and groomed to ensure that no spears have penetrated her skin, causing infection. This can be difficult for Tsepho, as she does not like to sit still and would prefer to be constantly working.
Indy is a confident, determined K9 with a very strong work ethic and a desire to do good. If you want to help Indy by supporting her training, nutrition, and medical expenses, please consider adopting this K9 hero for $40/month. The ERC Team AND Indy would be very grateful.
